Tammie Brooks: Quality Service Takes Quality People

Meet Tammie Brooks, Assistant Store Manager and one of our Best Parts at NAPA. Tammie has been working at our Acworth, Georgia store for 7 years and started her career with NAPA as a Delivery Driver after seeing a “now hiring” sign on the side of a NAPA delivery truck. We interviewed Tammie about the last 7 years of her career and what advice she would give others who are interested in working or starting a career at NAPA.

What do you do in your current role with NAPA?

My current role is managing our store and team. As an Assistant Manager, I am also responsible for inventory & freight, prioritizing delivery of parts, leading our team, and pleasing our customers. Customer Service is so important to me and our team. Without our customers, we can’t be successful. I am constantly multi-tasking in this role and that is an important skill to have as well, but you can never lose focus of our customers.

Do you have to love cars and know everything about a car to work at NAPA?

No you do not. I did have some knowledge about cars, but most of everything that I learned was at NAPA. The possibility to learn is always there at NAPA. The company gives you an opportunity to learn so much through “hands on” and also through all of the training that is provided to you.

What are some of the challenges with working at NAPA?  

More than anything, I would say is finding good, quality employees to join our team. I have a great team here at the store, but there are times when we need to fill a few roles, and it can be a challenge to find the type of person who fits the culture of NAPA, is passionate about customer service and is reliable like our parts. That is so important! Working at NAPA is not for everybody and that is ok, but we do want people to work here that are a good fit because they will be happy. Sure, there are some things that we need to work on internally as a company and we are doing that, but we do look for people that will be a good fit so they will want to stay around and grow with us.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work at NAPA?

There are so many opportunities at NAPA. You can easily work your way up if you put in the work. NAPA is a company that stands for honesty and quality, and is a great company to work for. You need to truly love customer service and be willing to treat customers the right way, regardless of what your job is at NAPA. There are so many different jobs at NAPA and the opportunities are definitely here!
