Sandra Lindsey had just graduated college with a degree in English and was looking for a new and exciting place to build her career. Looking through the classifieds, she stumbled across an ad for an Administrative Assistant with a company in Norcross, GA. Sandra decided to answer the ad, scored an interview with us, and the rest is history! Today, Sandra is the HR and Office Manager at the NAPA Store Support Center and says this ended up being the perfect fit. We spent some time with Sandra to discuss her passion for service, her journey, and why she believes NAPA is a unique employer.
What were your first impressions of NAPA?
I immediately noticed how polite everyone was and the longevity of the careers here. It was somewhere you could plant your roots and eventually retire. When I was hired, they told me they were looking for an Administrative Assistant that they could train to become the HR and Office Manager once the person who held that role retired and that’s exactly what happened.
How would you describe our culture?
Everyone here genuinely cares about one another and is invested in your success. I remember when I received the diagnosis of my daughter’s Down Syndrome; my work family was very supportive and to this day still ask for photos of my daughter. They are interested in how she’s doing and even ask when she’s going to come in for a visit. It was the exact opposite response I was expecting but made me proud to be a part of such a genuine group of people.
What advice would you give someone who wants to move up in our company?
At NAPA, you really can do anything you want to do. The beautiful thing about working here is that each position provides a set of skills and experiences that can be utilized in your next position. If you drive that ambition to grow, you’ll successfully get where you’d like to go here. You don’t have to leave this company to do what you want to do in life, the opportunities here are endless and easily accessible.
How do you bleed blue?
I’m NAPA’s cheerleader! I get excited about all the things NAPA has to offer their employees and the community. You can usually find me trying to rally the troops to get involved in one thing or another, but it’s a passion of mine because NAPA is involved in a lot of great things.
What are some of those things?
NAPA does a lot with the community, we are involved in fundraiser walks for various causes, we connect with the community by packing Thanksgiving boxes for families in need, and even partner with Habitat for Humanity. These community initiatives are also excellent team building opportunities. You get to connect with your co-workers and do something great for someone in need.
What’s next for you?
I love doing anything that involves service and helping others. I’d like to get involved in some creative ways to do that but ultimately, I feel like working in Human Resources is an excellent platform for me to be effective at NAPA and make a difference. It’s comforting to know I’ve found a lifelong career here.
Sandra puts the human in Human Resources – her drive to serve others is definitely what makes her the perfect fit. Join a company that that values ambition and allows you to create your destiny. Apply today and discover how your passion can play a part in NAPA’s legacy.
